How to start a server service and configure the service to start automatically

Please follow the procedure to start a server service and configure the service to start automatically in Windows 7 or Windows Vista Operating Systems.

1. Click the Start button, and in the Search field, type Services.msc.
2. Press the ENTER key.

NOTE: If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.

3. In the Services window, in the right pane, under Name, click to select the desired service.
4. On the menu bar, click Action.
5. On the Action menu, click Properties.
6. In the (service) Properties window, next to Startup type, click the down arrow, then click to select Automatic.

NOTE: Other available options are Automatic (Delayed Start), Manual, and Disabled.

7. Click the Apply button.
8. If the Server status: shows Stopped, click the Start button to start the service.
9. Click the OK button.
10. In the Services window, click the X in the upper right corner to close the window.
